General Information

Buenos Aires City LOCATION
Argentina, with a surface of 2.180.400 square km it is one of the largest countries in the world. Located in the south hemisphere of the american continent, the country borders with Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, Brazil to the north-east, Uruguay and the Atlantic ocean to the east, Chile to the west side.
Argentina it is divided in 23 provinces. The city of BA it is located in the Province of Buenos Aires.
The city of BA it is the Federal District of the country. It is spread out on large flatlands with a surface of 202 square km.
The rivers De La Plata and Riachuelo are its natural borders to the east and south of the city. The avenue that surround it, it’s called General Paz. It divides the federal district from the Conurbano Bonaerense, where lives most of the people that works in town.
Buenos Aires, also called Capital Federal, it is divided in 48 neighbourhoods.

CLIMATE
Buenos Aires has a very nice weather all year round. The annual average temperature it is 18º Celsius / 64º Fahrenheit. Days of extreme hot and cold are not very common, what allows you to walk around in the city no matter which season of the year.
The coldest month it’s July. Although there are not freeze, it is indispensable to carry a wool sweater, a coat and a scarf.
In winter time, the temperatures are moderate during the day, but they go down at night (till 3ºC/37ºF). Snowing it is not usual at BA. The nearest one was in 2007. The only one other snow fall was in 1918.
In summer, the heat is humid. Morning is less hot than midday and afternoon, where you can find temperatures of 35ºC/95ºF. At night, temperatures go down a little bit. We wear fresh and light clothes.
The rainy season is our fall or autumn (from March till June) and spring (from September till December).
Although the days of spring and autumn are nice and pleasant, the temperatures in the morning and at night are cool.

HYGIENE & HEALTH
It is not necessary to get oneself vaccinated to enter into the city, since BA it is a safe city from the sanitary point of view. The running water it is potable.
The Public Hospitals are at disposal of tourists and they offer an emergency service that it is free and 24 hours. The health professionals are trustworthy and internationally well-known because of their competences.
An emergency and ambulance service, known as SAME, can be contact by telephone, just calling at 107 for free.
